The
Native Dancer video game is a feasible under-taking.
However, the project requires a large collection
of experts and development staff to see it through.
This next stage of development is estimated to cost
over a million dollars. The development team is
committed to seeking funding and has submitted several
proposals including two to the National Institutes
of Health (NIH).
We continue to follow up new funding opportunities
to move Native Dancer to its next stage of development.

In
the spring of 2002, the White Earth Reservation Tribal Council (WERTC)
provided seed funds through a grant proposal submitted by the NDSU ATL. These
funds supported the development of this web site, powwow dancer motion capture
contract work, 3D modeling and programming for proof-of-concept Native Dancer
projects, and summer field research on White Earth Reservation on teen attitudes
towards dance genre video games.

Autodesk
Since the spring of 2002, Autodesk
has awarded the NDSU ATL Multiple licenses
of its Maya Unlimited 3D animation and special
effects software. Most recently, Autodesk
has provided the ATL with several licenses
of MotionBuilder. This generous grant has
allowed the Native Dancer project to move
forward. All software and motion capture
demos would not have been possible without
Autodesk's generous support.
